It's Sesame Oil! Known as one of the first oils extracted from seed and dating back 5000 years from the Indus Valley civilization in what is now Pakistan and western India.
For over 5,000 years Ayurveda has recommended the use of Sesame Oil for everything from repairing damaged skin cells to strengthening bones, joints and muscles. (Not to be confused with toasted Sesame Oil purchased in your grocery store, traditionally used in Asian foods.)
Ayurveda maintains that for a food, herb, or medicine to be effective, it must deliver the qualities required to restore balance to the body. Sesame oil is the “King of Oils” with a high concentration of antioxidants, including vitamins A and E, as well as rich in beneficial fatty acids to help moisturize and nourish skin. Interestingly it can also be used it as a natural mild sunblock.
